Chloroplatinic acid isopropanol platinum solution, also named Speier’s Catalyst, is the traditional classic hydrosilylation catalyst for addition silicone rubber. Its main component is hydrogen hexachloroplatinate dissolved in isopropanol solvent, CAS No. 16941-12-1. It presents reddish-brown transparent liquid with low procurement cost, widely adopted for ordinary industrial silicone products with low appearance requirements.
This platinum water features simple production process and ultra-low raw material cost, greatly cutting your catalyst input expense. However, it contains free hydrochloric acid residues, which will cause silicone products to turn yellow and amber after curing & long-term storage, with weaker anti-poisoning performance and slower curing speed compared with Karstedt platinum complex. It is the most cost-effective choice for general industrial silicone manufacturing without strict transparency demand.

5. Disadvantages (Objective Description for Customer Reference)
- Prone to yellow discoloration: Acid residues will gradually turn silicone yellow after curing, cannot be used for transparent, food-grade and medical silicone products.
- Weak anti-poisoning performance: Easily deactivated by trace sulfur, nitrogen, phosphorus impurities, leading to surface sticky or incomplete curing defects.
- Higher curing temperature required: Low catalytic activity, need longer baking time or higher temperature, increasing power consumption.
- Corrosive to metal molds: Free acid inside will cause slight corrosion on aluminum and iron molds after long-term continuous production.

8. Storage & Transportation Guidelines
- Storage: Keep tightly sealed, store in cool, dark, ventilated warehouse at 10–28℃; avoid direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Forbidden Contact: Separate from sulfur, amine, tin, lead compounds, peroxide vulcanizing agents to prevent catalyst poisoning.
- Transport Classification: Class 3 flammable liquid, comply with IMDG sea transport and IATA air freight rules.
- Shelf Life: 10 months unopened; finish within 2 months after opening and re-seal immediately.
9. Operation Precautions
- Mix evenly into vinyl silicone first before adding hydrogen-containing silicone oil.
- Not recommended for transparent, food contact and medical silicone products due to yellowing risk.
- Wear gloves and goggles during operation; avoid long-time skin contact, flush with clean water once splashed.
- Do not store together with metal molds for long-term soaking, clean molds after daily production.
