How to Correctly Use INH-S1 in Addition Silicone?
How to Correctly Use INH-S1 in Addition Silicone?
1. Recommended Dosage
The standard addition proportion of INH-S1 accounts for 0.1%–0.8% of the total weight of the silicone system.
- Low-temperature workshop / Short required pot life: 0.1%–0.3%
- Normal room temperature production: 0.3%–0.5%
- High-temperature summer environment / Long operating time needed: 0.5%–0.8%
2. Standard Feeding Sequence (Critical Step)
- Add INH-S1 into the vinyl silicone base (Part A) first.
- Stir at high shear speed for 5–10 minutes to achieve full uniform dispersion.
- Add hydrogen-containing silicone crosslinker and platinum catalyst successively under continuous stirring. Do not mix INH-S1 directly with platinum catalyst alone, or local over-inhibition will occur.
3. Pre-Production Sample Test
Before mass production, make small trial samples according to the workshop ambient temperature:
- Test the actual pot life at operating temperature;
- Check the curing effect under standard heating temperature (120–150°C);
- Adjust the dosage up or down if the silicone gels too fast or fails to cure thoroughly.
4. Curing Temperature Requirement
INH-S1 realizes reversible inhibition. Complete vulcanization needs heating above 120°C. If the heating temperature is too low or the holding time is insufficient, incomplete curing and surface tackiness may appear. Increase heating time moderately when using higher INH-S1 dosage.
5. Storage & Mixing Notes
- Keep INH-S1 sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- All mixing vessels and tools must be clean; avoid contact with sulfur, amine and heavy metal contaminants that poison platinum catalyst.
- Mix silicone in batches matching daily consumption to avoid long-term standing of mixed silicone compound.
6. Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Adding INH-S1 after platinum catalyst (poor dispersion, unstable inhibition effect)
- Excessively high dosage leading to prolonged curing cycle
- Using low heating temperature to mold silicone with high content of INH-S1
- Mixing with contaminated raw materials causing abnormal curing speed
